This organization, formally known as THE UNITED GRAND LODGE OF ANTIENT FREE AND ACCEPTED MASONS OF ENGLAND, serves as the central governing body for the Masonic fraternity in England. It establishes guidelines for the administration and operation of Lodges, ensuring adherence to Masonic principles and regulations. The Grand Lodge oversees the election and appointment of officers, sets forth rules for Lodge conduct, and provides a framework for dispute resolution among members. It emphasizes the importance of unity and collaboration among Lodges to uphold the values of Freemasonry. Members are expected to comply with the established protocols and contribute to the collective governance of the fraternity, fostering an environment of mutual respect and support.

The interests of the Fraternity are managed by a general representation of all private Lodges on the Register, the Grand Stewards for the year and the Grand Officers, present and past, with the Grand Master at their head. This collective body is styled THE UNITED GRAND LODGE OF ANTIENT FREE AND ACCEPTED MASONS OF ENGLAND, and is hereinafter referred to as ‘The Grand Lodge’.
