Regulation 49 outlines the eligibility criteria for election to the position of Third Principal within a private Royal Arch Chapter. A Companion must have previously served as Scribe, Principal Sojourner, or Assistant Sojourner for a full year or from the time of election or appointment to the election period for the Principal role. This ensures that candidates possess relevant experience and knowledge of Chapter operations. However, the First Grand Principal holds the authority to grant a dispensation from this requirement upon receiving a petition that details the specific circumstances and justifications for the request. This regulation emphasizes the importance of experience in leadership roles within the Chapter while allowing for flexibility in exceptional cases.
