Paper 30/2007 Title Freemasonry is for Everyone Author Bro S.K. Char - India I have said that Freemasonry requires a liberal mind with a spiritual and philosophical mind to understand it. It does not mean to say that others cannot become good freemasons. The aim of Freemasonry is not only to make good men better but to make ALL men better and good. There may be many who may not have the time or the inclination to delve deeply into the subject. We all appreciate that there are many outside the organization who may be as good as any of us. This shows that it does not require Freemasonry to make good men better, but freemasonry requires these men to be freemasons also. Freemasonry wants men to look at all men as brothers. Any brother who has the capacity to take full advantage of its philosophy shoul d be as welcome as another who just wants to come and partake in the normal activities even just as an ordinary master mason. Our aim is to touch the hearts and minds of men with our philosophy be it only by participating in our regular meeti ngs. To do this we have to create the ideal atmosphere in t he lodge. Every brother s hould feel the aura of sp irituality, brotherhood and desire to help each other in every way we can. Apart from mentoring, which is hardly ever done, it is the atmosphere we create and our behaviour inside and outside the lodge that shou ld influence brothers and teach th em the basic philosophy of the organization. This implies that a ll good men even if they are not freemas ons should be invited to join our organization. Unless men see Freemasonry in action, how can they understand what it is all about? Even if you do not understand it fully, you can be as good a brother as the most knowledgeable. We do not want just intelligent good God fearing men, these will freely join us once they know what it has to offer them; what we want are those that require unde rstanding and help from us. As I have said we don’t want just good men to make them better, we want ALL men so that we can make them good. Freemasonry has this capacity if we so desire.
